This post is for all the tired parents out there! Last night Eva was having a difficult time falling asleep (she is 5). All we could get out of her was that there was something wrong but she didn’t know exactly what. We ruled out any physical problems. She just had something on her mind. Poor kid….
So today, Daddy made her a fresh batch of Lemon Balm, Chamomile, and Cat Nip tea sweetened with local honey. The combination of these 3 herbs not only aids in sleep but also quiets a busy mind.
We had routinely been giving her this tea in the evenings before bed but at some point she decided she didn’t want it anymore. If anyone has ever lived with a toddler/young child, you know that sometimes you just have to pick your battles. So we tried letting her fall asleep without it.
However, after last night, we will be strongly encouraging her to drink some sleepy tea before bed. There is nothing artificial in this tea, just herbs we grew right outside her bedroom window. You can’t get much better than that.
It is safe for children over the age of 2 years but we always recommend consulting with your pediatrician before giving your child any new herbs.
And adults, you are in luck as it is safe and effective for you too! We will have some of these herbs up for grabs at the upcoming Plant Swap. Stayed tuned…details coming soon!
