Did you know willow tree bark contains Salicin, the main ingredient in the original Bayer Aspirin? What?!?!? Naturally, that means we have to make our own!
In just a few easy steps we made our own willow bark tincture:
- Strip the bark off the trimmed branches. You want to go about 1/8th of an inch deep.

2. Trim small enough to fit in a jar (we used a pint size jar.) Fill 3/4 with bark.

3. Fill the jar completely with 80 proof or stronger vodka.

4. Cover with parchment paper and screw on the ring.

5. Let sit for a minimum of 4-6 weeks to allow maximum potency.

6. Strain the bark out after 4-6 weeks (or more) and take a dropper full either under the tongue or mixed in water, coffee, tea, or whatever your favorite drink may be.
7. Store in a cool, dark place.
As always, before trying any new natural remedies, it’s best to consult your doctor.
We are anxious to try this and see if it works as well as aspirin without all the additives.
Score another win for Willow Trees!
