Hello and welcome to our page! John and I (Rebecca) have been married for almost 8 years and together have a 5 year old daughter, Eva. We have slowly been moving toward the homesteading lifestyle and finally feel like we have enough experience to start sharing with others!

Our homestead life shift started about 7 years ago with four chickens, and has taken off from there. We currently have 14 hens and 1 surprised rooster so chicks may be in our future! During Covid, like many others, we were bored and started exploring our 1.5 acres to see what kinds of plants we could forage and how they could be used.

We made flower jelly…dandelion, Peony, honey suckle, violet, etc. We decided to add fruit trees and bushes to our yard, along with our ever growing strawberry patch. We expanded our vegetable garden, again, and with my late grandmother’s help extended our interests to canning everything we grew.

We learned the art of dehydrating and how to make tomato and vegetable powders. We started composting what we couldn’t can, freeze, dehydrate, or feed to the chickens. We waste as little as possible.

John dove head first into herbal medicine learning how to make tinctures, teas, and even salves, all from plants we foraged or grew. Look for announcements about his first 2 books, which will be published very soon!

Rebecca has expanded into baking and most recently entered the exciting world of sour dough!

This page is to help us share our knowledge and help others take small or large steps into the world of homesteading…or just being more self-sufficient! We vow to be completely real (and messy) and show what life is really like on our homestead!

We still have so much we want to learn about and we are always looking for ways to expand our homestead….goats are on the horizon, no matter what John says.

Above all, we thank God for bringing us together and helping us grow in this venture; for giving us both the desire and ability to take care of ourselves and family and pass it on to the next generation. We have been blessed in so many ways and just want to be a blessing for others!
